The Miracle of Biblical Community
Hello dear friend! Have you ever considered what a miracle friendship can be? I had breakfast with a friend this morning and I was so grateful that we could be together, sharing concerns, praying for each other, bearing each other’s burdens, laughing, crying, and connecting because of our common love of the greatest friend of all – Jesus.
Proverbs 18:24 talks about our friend Jesus when it says, “One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.” (Proverbs 18:24, NIV) Jesus not only sticks closer than a brother, but He also proved His love when He embodied this amazing section of scripture:
“I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” (John 15:11-13, NIV)
friend, Jesus wants us to experience deep friendship with Him and with each other. Listen to this amazing story of a man who found deep friendship in biblical community:
“Having stopped going to church for many years because I married a woman who had different beliefs than my own and then lost her to cancer, I found myself hurting and lonely. God used my pain and loneliness to bring me back closer to Himself. In addition to finding a local fellowship, I began to read His word and pray. One of my prayers has been for Him to draw me closer and give me an insatiable hunger for His word, which He has done. This also resulted in me subscribing to the A Miracle Every Day devotions. I have found the daily emails to be helpful and thought-provoking, and they are being used by God to answer my prayers. I will always miss my wife, but the pain and loneliness have been replaced with a renewed and closer relationship with God greater than I had previously enjoyed before walking away from Him. I give praise to God for everything He has done for me, including inspiring and providing for your ministry. God bless you for the good things you are doing!” – Charles
Charles found comfort, love, and community in Jesus. My friend, I know that God wants the same for you! Right now, take a moment and ask God for a deeper relationship with Him and with His children. I will pray with you....
Jesus, we want a life-changing relationship with You! Help us to find the miracle of biblical community. Help us to step out of our comfort zones and to be the kind of friend that we would want for ourselves! Thank you for being our friend. Amen.
friend, thanks for being my friend! One day in Heaven, I can’t wait to meet face to face.
Never forget that you are a miracle.
Your friend,
