The power of your voice
"Helloooo…I'll just put your package downstairs! Have a wonderful day. Bye bye!" Whenever the postwoman's cheerful voice whistles through my intercom, a huge smile automatically spreads across my face.
It's not so much the package's arrival that makes me so happy but the incredibly friendly voice of my delivery driver! It makes me joyful every time I hear it. Maybe I should just order more packages to make me even happier! Haha, just kidding. ;-)
But if you think about it, friend, it's people like her who keep inspiring us. People with that zest for life! We don't even have to see them—their voices alone are enough. For example, my joyful delivery driver, without even knowing it, inspired me to write in A Miracle Every Day about the happiness she brought me.
One voice—your voice—can do so much!
"But I have a different personality, Déborah," you may say. "It may be easy for you, but I can't speak like that at the drop of a hat." I understand…I've also felt that way. For example, just when I least feel like using my voice to say a simple "hello" while shopping, I have to force myself to do it. And do you know what, friend? I realize that a mumbled "have a good day" doesn't work. It only helps when I pull myself together and mean it from my heart.
When I greet someone with joy in my heart, the corners of my mouth automatically lift…and so does my mood! I hear my own joyful voice saying "Good morning," for example, and more often than not, I'll get a friendly response back. friend, that makes me twice as happy!
Yes, raise your voice and your spirits will lift, too! :-)
God desires for you to use your voice because He knows how much He can accomplish through it: "…Encourage the disheartened, help the weak, be patient with everyone. Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always strive to do what is good for each other and for everyone else. Rejoice always" (1 Thessalonians 5:14-16, NIV).
I encourage you to give your voice a boost of joy today!
You are a miracle!
