This could be dangerous, friend!

Publication date Dec 29, 2022

Did you know that there's a great danger in being a Christian?

It might not be the first that comes to our minds, but the danger I'm thinking of today is this: wanting salvation more than the Savior, wanting healing more than the Healer, wanting love more than the One who is love, and wanting the miracle more than the One who performs it.

When we need a miracle, we often pray, "Jesus, please do this!" or "Jesus, I ask You to do that." And when He does give us our miracle, what then? Do we stop to show Him how grateful we are for what He just did? (see Luke 17:11-19

You see, friend, Jesus loves us so much that He just loves to give to us! In doing so, He'll often work quietly or behind the scenes. But did you know that it greatly pleases Him when we praise Him for it? How often do we really do that?

The danger is that we only enjoy the "quick advantages" of being Christians when there could be SO much more! Jesus says, "...'I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.'" (John 8:12, NKJV)

If you let the Light into your life, you'll undoubtedly experience something incredible…the difference between hope and hopelessness!

Jesus wants to give you more than your "quick miracle," friend. He wants to give you a security that no one can take away from you! He wants to give you an ever-burning light in the darkness…if you follow Him. "To follow" means "to accept as authority; to come after a guide to get to the same place."

Let's recognize the danger of always wanting something from Jesus without stopping to praise Him for it and truly follow Him!

This upcoming year, I encourage you…

Choose to want the One who performs miracles more than the miracle itself!

Choose to follow Jesus consciously.

Take time to stop and praise Him for what He does!

As you do, you'll see how an ever-burning light will accompany you on your way into and through the new year! That's my prayer for you today. :-)

You are a miracle!
