Vacation Mode
It was during vacation that I had the following thought:“Who is God to me when I don’t need Him to solve one of my problems?”
Yes, here on vacation, under the long-awaited sun over the sea and enjoying delicious food, the problems that usually overwhelm me quickly in everyday life felt distant. More distant. You probably know this feeling too, friend. I looked forward to each new day: “Ah, today I’m going to that big market, and afterwards I’ll have lunch by the sea.”
friend Let's be completely honest with each other to encourage one another to stay committed. Stay committed to God’s truth! Even on vacation.
Because I understand this too. When I’m at home, I have my routine. I wake up very early, spend my quiet time, and then immediately start writing more texts or sermons before I go for a walk and pray.
That may sound very holy, friend, so please don’t feel bad if you can’t do it the same way. Let’s be honest: “It’s also my job.”
But if I only wrote and never spent time in God’s presence, believe me, it would be meaningless lines.
Let’s never forget:God is not just your problem-solver, God is God.
A God who desires a relationship. Out of love. Out of love for you, friend. In Psalm 27 it says: "My heart says of you, 'Seek his face!' Your face, LORD, I will seek." (Psalm 27:8 NIV)
Or more clearly translated in the New Living Translation: “My heart has heard you say, “Come and talk with me.” And my heart responds, “LORD, I am coming.” (Psalm 27:8 NLT)
friend, God is saying to you today: “Seek my face.” Yes, this means that this closeness is not found immediately, but requires more than just a “Thank you for the food, Amen.” It requires your heart. Your heart that wants Him, who is more than just a problem-solver, that wants Him, who is God.
Will you also respond today: “Lord, I seek you?”
You are a miracle!
