“Want to know a trick”

Would you want to know a trick that could help you love people, friend?
Honestly... it catches all of us time and time again. For example, I had just met with an organizer of a big concert we had planned together to lead people to Jesus, and he said, embarrassed: “Déborah, I just lost it in traffic—I yelled at a stranger.”
Because no matter how much good we plan to do for Jesus, we all fail along the way. And believe me, I’m not excluding myself, which is especially embarrassing since my car says, “Love is louder...” 😂
But I’ve got a trick that, day by day, at least reminds me that I always have a choice—to lose it or to love. And I’m about to share this trick with you, friend.
In 1 Peter it says: “Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for each other, love one another deeply, from the heart.” (1 Peter 1:22 NIV)
Let me stop at this one line: “You have purified yourselves by obeying the truth.” friend, the truth is that God wants, even demands, that we love our neighbors. You know this, just like I do. But knowing isn’t the same as doing.
Imagine love is like a ball in God’s hands. And the Bible says, “Take My love and pass it on.” You could say, “I know the Bible says that,” but that wouldn't mean you're doing God’s will yet.
Only when you turn toward God, take the ball from his hands, and pass it on—THEN you have acted.
“Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for each other, love one another deeply, from the heart.” (1 Peter 1:22 NIV)
friend, that means that as you turn to the truth (God’s desire for you to love others), God will do what you can’t: He will make you “able” to love.
Now you know, friend. Will you act on it?
You are a miracle!
