We give Jesus, because Jesus gave all.
friend, do you love questions? I do! Do you love answering or asking questions? I love both! As I mentioned in the email yesterday, I have the privilege of responding to questions that people send in live on a YouTube show powered by Jesus.net. All of the questions are amazing but another one of my favorite questions came from a young lady in the Philippines who simply asked, “What does it mean to give your heart to Jesus?” What an amazing question, and I don’t believe there is a more important question to answer!
In response to the young lady’s question, I shared that God loved her so much that He sent Jesus to pay a spiritual debt that she could not pay. I explained that sin had come between her and God, but that God had sent His Son Jesus to build a bridge over the separation of sin. I told her that she was so valuable to God, that when He paid her debt, He gave sacrificially, completely and generously with the gift of His Son. I said, “Giving your heart to Jesus is the only fitting response to all that Jesus gave for us.”
There was only one verse that I could share that would explain the beauty of God’s gift:
“‘For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.’” (John 3:16, ESV)
friend, would you take a moment and read that verse again. Many people have heard that verse so many times, that the impact has faded. Let’s not let familiarity rob us of God’s truth! Let these words sink into your soul.
“‘For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.’” (John 3:16, ESV)
As we prayed a simple prayer of faith on the LIVE show, the chat box popped open- The young lady from the Philippines wrote, “I gave my heart to Jesus.” Her comment brought me both joy and tears.
God gave ALL, and we are called to do the same. Why? So that every person can hear about the life-changing story of Jesus. Today, you can follow the example of Jesus and make it possible for someone else to hear about His name. Thank you for making this possible.
You’re a miracle!
