What Did You Do With What I Gave You?

Publication date Jun 7, 2023

A good friend of mine says, “When we get to heaven, after we answer the question, “Do you know Jesus as your Savior?”; the next question we will be asked is: “What did you do with what I gave you?”

King David understood the power and importance of that question. When he was raising funds for the temple that Solomon was to build, he said, “Everything we have has comes from you, and we only give you what you first gave us!” (1 Chronicles 29:14). He goes on to say, “I know, my God, that you examine our hearts and rejoice when you find integrity there” (1 Chronicles 29:17). It wasn’t so much about what David and his people gave, as it was about their heart response to him. They were “all in” for God.

friend, We’ve each been given things of value to use and develop and grow for God’s Kingdom. It’s the whole package – our lives, family, possessions, occupation, gifts and abilities – they are all from God. What we do with these things, shows where our heart is at. Jesus said, “Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.” (Matt. 6:21 NLT)

Michelle, an A Miracle Every Day reader in French Guyana, says: “A Miracle Every Day is my conversation with the Lord. As soon as I wake up and give Him thanks and praise, I ask him ‘What are you telling me today and what are you asking me to do?’ It’s so amazing to see how real the relationship between us can be. I sometimes shout with joy and there are even moments when I cry because I feel how the Lord is getting hold of my heart…”

Like Andreas and Kaila, and like Michelle, you can experience the joy of generosity that comes through obedience to the Lord.

And like them, you are a miracle!
