What world are you living in?
I had a vivid dream last night. It seemed like the people who surrounded me were negative, critical, and pessimistic. I even heard someone gripe in front of a whole group of people that was listening to a guest speaker. The gentleman was rudely interrupting the meeting with his negative attitude. To my surprise, I heard myself say, “What world do you live in? Because I see things completely differently. My world is full of…”
friend, what is your world like? How do you see your world and feel about it?
The dream shook me up because I’m not that type of person. I’m not very confrontational, nor do I jump into someone else’s battle. It wasn’t my meeting, but I confronted the man’s negativity and his perception of the world. It must have been the Lord influencing my thoughts in my dream.
It reminds me of Joseph, who was beaten by his brothers, sold into slavery, falsely accused, and finally betrayed by his friends. Ouch! He had a rough life, didn’t he? He could’ve felt sorry for himself, but instead, he rose to fame and fortune. He helped his pharaoh, forgave his brothers, saved Egypt from famine, and provided a lifeline to his tribe. Could it be that Joseph had a prayer life that made him unbeatable? Could it be that he became an overcomer and not a victim?
The Bible tells us that he saw his world much differently than anyone could have imagined: “‘You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.’” (Genesis 50:20, NIV)
friend, the world may have thrown rocks at you. It may seem like it has collapsed around you. I understand and totally relate. My world has felt a lot like this recently, but I’ve tried to pick up the bricks that were heaved at me to build a new future. I’ve asked God to help me clear the debris of the world to build a shelter for others.
Will you join me in prayer now? I’ll partner with you in prayer because God is about to do the impossible for you and me. Because God loves us, and He has amazing plans for our lives. And you are a miracle!
