What you really need, friend

You don't need more than you have today, or you'll overlook God's power!

Because it is so very important that you understand that less is more with God friend, I want to go over this topic again today.

God said to Gideon, “...You have too many warriors with you. If I let all of you fight the Midianites, the Israelites will boast to me that they saved themselves by their own strength.” (Judges 7:2 NLT)

These are the words God said to Gideon, an exceedingly fearful man. Feel free to read through Judges 6 and 7 in their entirety sometime. I don't know how many times God had to reassure Gideon, "...I will be with you… “ (Judges 6:16 NIV). 

Don’t you think, friend, that you would be pretty reassured if God sent an angel to speak those very words to you? Gideon continued to doubt, especially when God then reduced his army as well.

What about you, friend? Could it be that you, too, are just waiting to find enough supporters for your project before you even get started? That you are waiting for more time before you can dedicate yourself to your dream? For more love from your spouse before you feel comfortable enough to pass on love yourself? More finances before you can pass anything on?

Notice something, friend? God took away what Gideon thought he needed to show him that all he needed was more faith. God wanted to show him that his thinking, "But I need more collateral before I go," would never have gotten him where he wanted to go. The trust: "Now I have (almost) nothing, except You, Lord," would let him experience WONDERFUL victories!

Are you also ready today to let go of this way of thinking, "I need more first," and to take hold of a new way of thinking: "I need only You, Lord?”

"I don't need more—I need You, Lord!" Let's pray that confidently today, let go and experience miracles!

You are a miracle!
