Where Are You Settling for Half Measures?

Publication date Jan 15, 2025

Oh, I love it when there are European Championships or World Cups! I get so into it! I like to wear a jersey and post about it. Logically, that sends the message: “Déborah is FOR Germany.”

But I also love France and can equally celebrate the victories of other countries. However, my official declaration of support for Germany automatically triggers the response from others that I must be “against” their country. It’s a tricky situation…

God is very clear:He wants us to LOVE ALL PEOPLE, but only to WORSHIP ONE GOD. Him!

It’s delightful. Simply delightful how Elijah—who was on his own—could boldly mock the 450 prophets of Baal and say:“You need to shout louder if your great god is going to hear you! Surely he’s deep in thought, or he had to go to the bathroom. Or is he on a trip? Maybe he’s even sleeping; you’ll have to wake him up!” (1 Kings 18:27 NLT

You know, friend, the prophets of Baal weren’t against God, but they were also FOR other gods. And those half measures are never whole measures.

It’s like praying but not believing that the prayer makes a difference. It’s like forcing yourself to go to the church prayer night just to fulfill an obligation—without being genuinely engaged.

It’s like going to church today just to be seen there, rather than consciously going “into the house of God” because you long for an encounter with the Most High.

Today is a great opportunity to reflect on why you do what you do, friend.

Do you pray because it has become a habit, or do you truly recognize the greatness of God? Do you attend church because you want to encounter your great God—or because of your friends?

It’s worth thinking about and consciously giving our great God our FULL ATTENTION again.

Wishing you a wonderful Sunday, friend, and:

You are a miracle!
