“Why are people like that?”

“Déborah is full of flaws too!”

Yesterday, I told you about a woman who publicly attacked me on Facebook. And when others stood up for me in the comments section, her last attempt was to point out that I was full of flaws. Oh, how right she is!

You know, friend, I take words very seriously. And when I’m criticized, I might not respond publicly, but I take it with me into my prayer time and ask God, “What’s behind this? Do I need to work on something within myself?”And that’s exactly my tip for you today: When you’re hurt, bring that hurt into God’s light!

Let me explain this to you in more detail. The first message this woman sent me said:“Dear Déborah... I just find you a little arrogant. You’re so full of yourself. And that’s not good... just get down from your high horse.”

And that’s when I directly asked God: “Have I become arrogant? Is there something in me that doesn’t bring You joy? Am I full of myself and not of You, Lord?”

And do you know how God personally answered me, friend? He gave me this scripture: “A man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” (1 Samuel 16:7 ESV) No, He didn’t comment these words publicly on Facebook, He placed them in my heart. And that was enough for me.

Because it’s far more important to stand pure before God than to give people more “fuel” for their attacks. Whoever has peace with God, has peace with themselves.

friend, we will never understand why some people are the way they are, but what’s more important to know is that GOD is who HE is. And He is full of patience and love for you. If you’re ready today to “shine a light” 🔦 on your life, then feel free to do so with the words of Psalm 139:

“Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” (Psalm 139:23-24 NIV)
