You fear nothing, friend

Publication date Feb 6, 2020
This morning, I’d like to draw your attention to the word...NOTHING. This nothing that means everything. This nothing that the apostle Paul employs in the Bible in Philippians 4:6-7…“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” (NKJV)     But how is this possible? No anxiety? Ever? Not even about finances, Lord? About this conflict in my family?   Nothing? Yes, the Bible says nothing, friend! How is it possible?   It’s not about implementing the “I’m doing well...everything’s fine” method, when actually deep in your heart, nothing is fine and your internal world is chaos. It’s not that at all.   Rather, it’s about having the assurance, the certainty, the deep conviction that Jesus is there with you. It’s a truth, a fact that doesn’t change with time, that never varies throughout the ages. (Matthew 28:20)     If God says He is there, He is there! My friend, your peace is perfect. Perfect because of Christ. Because of His sacrifice for you at Golgotha. Would He have agreed to give His life for you to then live in fear and uncertainty?   Certainly not! So, today, declare this with strength and faith because Jesus is listening to you…“I fear nothing, Lord. You are my Redeemer; You are alive. I fear nothing...not the enemy’s arrows nor life’s storms. Your peace that surpasses my understanding guides my heart and mind through Christ Jesus. My existence and destiny are in Your hands.”   I invite you to listen to this worship song by Israel Houghton (feat. Adrienne Houghton) that so beautifully reminds us of the peace that’s ours because of God’s unchanging presence.
