You’re Not Powerless

Publication date Jan 9, 2025

Are you feeling a bit cornered right now? Do you feel like you’re standing alone with your problem, friend?

When I read 1 Kings 18, I noticed how relaxed Elijah was when he was accused of bringing disaster upon all of Israel (see 1 Kings 18:17 NLT). There was something that really stood out to me, which I want to share with you. He was seriously backed into a corner and must have felt alone—after all, he said himself:

“I am the only prophet of the Lord who is left, but Baal has 450 prophets.” (1 Kings 18:22 NLT

And yet, he stayed completely calm! 🤗 He suggested that the 450 prophets of Baal prepare a sacrifice, and he—the only prophet of God—would do the same: “Then you, the prophets of Baal, call on your god, and I will pray to the Lord. The god who answers with fire is the true God.” (1 Kings 18:24 NLT)

He even let the prophets of Baal go first with their offering and then mocked them, friend! They prayed from morning until noon, and nothing happened!

I couldn’t help but laugh when I read: “About noontime, Elijah began mocking them. ‘You’ll have to shout louder,’ he scoffed, ‘for surely he is a god! Perhaps he is daydreaming, or is relieving himself. Or maybe he is away on a trip, or is asleep and needs to be woken up!” (1 Kings 18:27 NLT

Haha, Elijah was so relaxed! He didn’t feel cornered at all. And do you know why, friend? He trusted God so much that he knew,100%, that God would answer his prayer in a way that would work for his good.

friend, God will do the same for you when you learn to trust in the power of your prayer and believe that God always wants the best for you when you rely on Him.

You are neither alone nor powerless— because it’s not your problem that’s big, it’s your God!

You are a miracle!
