A Miracle named Jim
Your miracle is just around the corner, don’t give up believing!
God granted me a miracle in 1989 and the miracle came in the form of a little Scottish pastor named James Scobbie.
I was a young minister and God knew that I would need miraculous intervention to succeed as a shepherd in God's flock! Jim took the admonition of 2 Timothy 2:2 very seriously:
“And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.” (2 Timothy 2:2, NIV)
Jim knew that I would be pouring into other people, so he purposefully poured into me. Jim was a miraculous gift to me, a young pastor.
I think back over all the simple lessons Jim taught me over the years:
- Jim taught me patience by patiently answering all of my questions.
- Jim taught me grace by being gracious with me when I made a mistake.
- Jim taught me how to love the Word of God by living the Word himself.
- Jim taught me how to serve by setting an example of service.
- Jim taught me how to love Laurel by the way he loved his precious wife Ena.
- Jim taught me how to pray by praying with me and for me.
I could go on for hours and hours but the miracle I want you to see is the miracle of consistent and effective modeling. Jim modeled a life after Jesus and I was changed because of his example.
“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.” (1 Timothy 4:12, NIV)
“For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you. Most assuredly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master; nor is he who is sent greater than he who sent him. If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.” (John 13:15-17, NIV)
friend, I ask you, “Who can you miraculously pour into today?”
Many of us would never think of our example as a miraculous gift but it is!!! Today, bless someone with the miraculous gift of a consistent example. Follow Jesus passionately with your words and with your conduct-doing it in love, faith and purity!
If you will take this challenge, you will be BLESSED! God promises!!!
Pastor Jim went home to be with Jesus a while back, but I will never forget his impact OR fail to continue on his legacy.
friend, you can have the same impact if you step out in faith and follow the example of Jesus with your own.
You are a miracle!!
