“Are you “too humble,”?”

“It’s not possible? Then bring the people in charge so we can find a solution together.”
During the soundcheck at an open-air festival, the technicians on site had consistently refused my request to clear a small path from the stage to the audience.
friend, I don’t know why this happens, but the collaboration between artists and the technicians on site is often—well, let’s say—interesting.
Here I was, requesting a clear task—I wanted an unhindered pathway without a fence between the stage and the people. And yet, I was being blocked in making it happen. 😠
So what now? Stay “humble” and back down? How do I respond the right way, especially when David sets the example for us: “Lord, my heart is not proud; my eyes are not haughty; I do not concern myself with great matters or things too wonderful for me.” (Psalm 131:1 NLT)
If I stand up for what I want now, is that pride? friend, honestly, even after all these years of experience, it’s still difficult for me to stand up for something that’s “about me.” And maybe you have the opposite problem, where you're too humble rather than too proud.
friend, there are moments when only the Holy Spirit can show you whether it’s right to push through what seems important to YOU or to step back for the sake of peace.
Paul often faced challenges and questions like these. He could surely be perceived as “proud” because of his confidence in speaking. But do you know how he explained it? 🤔“We are confident of all this because of our great trust in God through Christ. It is not that we think we are qualified to do anything on our own. Our qualification comes from God.” (2 Corinthians 3:4-5 NLT) And with this trust in God, I decided that day to push through and get the set up I wanted. And do you know what the result was? Messages from people saying, “Déborah, when you came down from the stage directly into the audience and hugged me, I felt God’s love, and something inside me was healed.” ❤️🩹We know who probably wanted to prevent that—the enemy wants to keep people from experiencing God’s love. And that’s why it’s so important not to always be “too humble”—always let yourself be guided by the Holy Spirit.
You are a miracle!
