Broken things don't have to stay broken
I was planning my dream wedding in Hawaii…a beautiful dream I thought would come true but was instead painfully destroyed. When I had to tell people with whom I'd shared our amazing wedding plans that the wedding wasn't happening, the pain of it nearly destroyed me. With each conversation, that dream died a little more, and I relived the pain of it over and over again.
Yes, it hurts to dream big and then to fall down, right in front of everyone, and see your dream completely shattered.
friend, maybe you've also dreamed big, only to see your dream fall apart. Perhaps, for you, it was the idea of self-employment, and you completely ran into a wall. Or maybe it was that long-awaited pregnancy that led to a miscarriage, and your pain is more than real.
friend, each of us has a story. Each one of us has had dreams that then got shattered. But, broken things don't have to stay broken because God wants to heal the broken places in your life!
Every time you say, "I will still go on, I will still believe, I will still dream,” you remove some of the pain of the difficult memory and replace it with the healing wonder that faith brings!
The prophet Elijah was also done with the world and done with his dream. He didn't even want to live anymore! (see 1 Kings 19:3-4, NIV)
And what did God say to him? "'Go back the way you came, and go to the Desert of Damascus…'" (1 Kings 19:15, NIV) Ouch! But the sentence doesn't end there. God essentially said, "Go back the way you came...and continue."
friend, that encouragement is for you, too. Where you fell last time, where you thought you had lost…that's where God can do a miracle and help you realize one thing: Maybe this step backwards was, in fact, your biggest step forward!
That's how I personally experienced it, and that's why I want to pass this encouragement on to you today from the bottom of my heart!
You're a miracle!
