Can you be honest in prayer?

Publication date Apr 5, 2020
Today, Paul Marc Goulet wrote the message of "A Miracle Every Day". I pray his message and audio will bless you today. -- Should our prayers be guarded so as not to offend God, or should we be free to express our true feelings? This is such a powerful question because deep down within all of us, there is a respect and holy fear of God. At least this is what I believe. friend, what do you think? I’ve really struggled with a tendency to be guarded with God. I’ve held back some of my darker emotions and thoughts because I wanted to gain His approval. I think I transferred this tendency from my relationship with my father. As a child, I felt like I had to perform well in order to please my father.  Paul the Apostle spoke of this in 1 Corinthians 13:11: “When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things.” I like the part when he says: “but when I became a man, I put aside childish things”. It was childish on my part to think God was like my father in this way. It was foolish to think I had to offer up false, pious prayers that were not completely honest... friend, God loves you and me unconditionally. We can tell Him everything in prayer because He already knows us, and He still loves us. The Psalms of King David illustrate this impeccably. King David asked God to punish his enemies and pay them back. He confessed his sins in a public song, and he expressed his shame in regards to his past failures. David understood the unconditional love of God. Our prayers should be a place where we can feel 100% safe. He won’t judge us or condemn us for being honest, for being human. friend, we all need a safe place to express ourselves. I hope that you're finding this place in prayer. Never forget you're a miracle and that miracles are real. Paul Marc Goulet -- Thank you, Paul Marc, for sharing this today!
