Can you give more weight to God's promises? 😊
If I had built my life on feelings and thoughts…Help! I honestly don't know where I'd be today. Or if I'd built my future on my thoughts and feelings, that definitely would've been a disaster!
My thoughts are not always good. You'll probably know this from your own life, too. What are God's thoughts about you?
"'For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,' says the LORD, 'thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.'" (Jeremiah 29:11, NKJV)
May I ask you a question then, friend? What if you were to give more weight to the words of God that He speaks to you personally than your own thoughts?
friend, there have been several periods of time in my life when I thought I'd lost everything, not least of which was in 2017, when I even put my job on the back burner for wedding planning. When the man I loved then abruptly left me, he left me not just with a broken heart but also severe depression. Consciously looking at all that I'd lost—from the dream of marriage, to my music, to my job, to friends—made everything worse.
If I'd continued to focus my gaze there, I would have completely perished. But I decided—late, but still in time, with my last bit of strength—to give God's words more weight than my own thoughts! He said He would give me a future and hope again!
"Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it." (Proverbs 4:23, NIV)
friend, sometimes putting this verse into practice feels like competing in a high-level sport, but I can assure you…like with any athletic activity, you really do feel amazing afterwards!
I encourage you…start today! Choose to again give God's promise of hope and a future more weight than your own words, even if you feel like it's too late. Too late is still in time for God!
You are a miracle!
