Choosing to worship and believe

Publication date May 10, 2022

"Let my soul be at rest again, for the LORD has been good to me." (Psalm 116:7, NLT)

friend, did you know that you have authority over your thoughts and emotions and can choose to exercise it? You may think you don't (or can't), but in fact, you make decisions every day! For example, let's say you're sitting across the room from a chair. What happens if you say to yourself, "I want to sit in that chair"?

You have to choose to stand up and walk over! It starts with your will—the will to leave where you are and move—or nothing will happen. You have to decide that you want to sit in that chair and trust that your decision is a good one!

I know from experience the power of worshiping the Lord with music when you're completely down and out. I also know that in especially difficult times, oftentimes we don't really want to worship.

But if you do decide to lift up your hands and worship Him in these hard moments, you'll start to know, deep within your heart, that your help is on the way, even if you can't see it yet.

Psalm 116:9 (CJB) says, "I will go on walking in the presence of Adonai in the lands of the living."  David wrote "go on walking," which meant that he, too, was still on his way and hadn't reached his destination yet. But he was empowered to keep going forward because help was on the way.

Another psalm of David says, "But I am poor and needy; yet the LORD thinks upon me. You are my help and my deliverer…" (Psalm 40:17, NKJV). friend, why would God do this for David and not you, when His Word says that He is the same yesterday, today, and forever? (see Hebrews 13:8)

I encourage you to choose to press through your difficulty into worship, keep walking in the ways of the Lord, and believe that He is your deliverer!

Let's choose to trust in the One who chose us…and how He would deliver us…long ago! :-)

You're a miracle!
