Dig a little deeper
Have you ever dug for gold? I love to watch a television program entitled Australian Gold Hunters. There is something wonderful about these characters who risk their wealth and safety in the rugged wastelands of Australia. These people survey, buy equipment, and dig for gold. Unfortunately, they often face failure after failure rather than experiencing the thrill of discovery.
The Bible says we should risk it all for the pearl of great price: “‘Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls, who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it.’” (Matthew 13:45-46, NKJV)
This is a principle we need to cultivate in 2022 if we want the gold of life: we need to dig, dig, and dig some more. Are you digging for the gold of life while you’re going through the deserts of life? Winston Churchill once said, “If you’re going through hell, keep going.” He was so right, but I’d like to add something else that I believe is so important: “Dig for the gems while you are in the pit.”
The great Apostle Paul once said, “What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ.” (Philippians 3:8, NIV) Paul was persecuted, rejected, and tormented by Jews and Romans alike, but he found something of greater value: a deeper relationship with Jesus.
friend, you may be going through hell, loss, or rejection, but look around and grab a few gems along the way. To be honest with you, I’ve learned more through my pain than my gains. My dad was super tough, but it helped me become resilient.
I recently had an in-depth series of psychological tests at the Amen Clinic in California. I was encouraged by the results because my brain is healing from concussions and strokes. My brain images show massive progress compared to eighteen months ago. Hallelujah, God is healing me!
friend, do you need a miracle? Pray, fast, be anointed with oil and receive the prayer of faith, change your diet, do your best, and watch God. I could’ve given up or felt sorry for myself, but I chose to turn to God and do my part of the healing journey. You are not a victim of life but a victor in Christ. The Bible says, “Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ,” (2 Corinthians 2:14, NKJV).
You are a miracle, and I see the diamonds of life at your feet. They are covered in dust, but you will find them and be enriched.
