Do you find it difficult to keep your mouth shut, friend?
These days, we are talking about "disappointing and being disappointed." And yes, I wish it were different, but sometimes we are involved in the disappointments that hit others so hard. Today, I'm sharing a very personal experience with you, and I hope it will motivate you to question the things you say.
Have you ever said something to someone that you regretted the next moment because it not only disappointed the other person but also yourself?
“You say, ‘I am allowed to do anything’—but not everything is good for you.” (1 Corinthians 10:23 NLT)
I like this verse, friend. Some may see it as restrictive, but I see the freedom it offers.
For years, I used to feel guilty after visiting my family. This is very personal, but I'm sharing it with you, friend, so you can see: You don't change if you don't make a change.
We're French, so we spend half the day at the table talking. And when you talk, you tend to talk too much. Have you ever been in that situation, friend?
When conversations take their course, you feel the need to keep adding more words than necessary, as I did back then. You want to tell about the more exciting experiences and always be right.
Are you aware that Jesus expects something completely different from you? His desire is:
"Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry." (James 1:19 NLT)
Why is this so? The answer is also in the Bible, friend. "Too much talk leads to sin. Be sensible and keep your mouth shut." (Proverbs 10:19 NLT)
Saying too many words makes you guilty and sad. Hurting others with self-righteousness creates discord and disappoints everyone…as well as yourself. The possibility is real in any gathering. We should and want to love one another, right?
friend, if you realize—like I did back then—that you often say too much, then—like I did back then—you can ask God for forgiveness and decide to love before you speak. And that will change everything!
When we keep our mouths shut, His love can unfold more quickly!
You are a miracle!
