Do you know who you are?

“What are you doing around here anyway?” (1 Samuel 17:28 NLT)
That’s how David was greeted by his oldest brother Eliab after making the long journey to bring food to his brothers at war. “Well, thanks a lot,” David must have thought. “I walk all this way just to do something nice for you guys, and this is the appreciation I get?” 😒
friend, have you ever had a moment like that? You’re just trying to do something good for others, you're serving with the best intentions, and instead of being appreciated or encouraged, you get hurt. And in that moment, all you want to say is: “I’m never doing this again. Clearly, I don’t matter to you!”
But let’s take a lesson from David. Because if anyone had a reason to feel that way, it was him. But here’s the key: he knew who he was.
Just shortly before that moment, Samuel had anointed him (see 1 Samuel 16:13). And even though nothing had visibly changed yet in David’s life—no crown, no throne—he already believed in what God had spoken over him.
That’s why those hurtful words didn’t shake him. He knew that no matter where he was at the moment, he was already on the path to something greater. Because when God is your ultimate goal, you’re always moving toward something greater. 🤩
friend, maybe no prophet ever showed up at your door to anoint you—but that’s okay. A prophet is someone who declares what’s coming in the future. And you already have God’s Word, which speaks personally to you about who you are and what your future holds.
Through His Word, God says: “...I have chosen you and not rejected you. So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.” (Isaiah 41:9-10 NIV)
So walk out your door today with that confidence! And no matter what others say about you—even if someone says to you today, “What are you even doing here?”—let it not shake you. Not when you know who you are.
You are a miracle! 💛
