Do you lack self-worth, friend?

Publication date Oct 15, 2023

What do you do when someone needs your help, friend? Are you there for that person? Now, be completely honest. Or does your excuse begin with, "I'd really love to help you, but...?”

Recently, I heard from a friend who is a pastor how he asked someone to pick up another person for church service. The immediate reaction was, "But that's a detour of one kilometer!"

I don't want to judge that person, friend, because in other areas, I'm sure I could catch myself doing the same thing. And you probably could too.Why do we react like this?

When we react negatively, we react out of a sense of lack.

This lack could be a lack of time, for example: "I don't have time for that; I'm already running late."

Or it could be a financial lack: "I'm short on cash right now, and every extra kilometer hurts."

But maybe it's also a lack of self-worth: "If I have to take this stranger with me, we'll be sitting close together, and they'll soon notice my personal flaws that I can usually hide so well."

friend, you have no reason to react negatively out of this lack, or to come up with excuses and not be there for your neighbor. When you say yes, despite everything, you could experience a true blessing!

Those who react positively live out of God's abundance!

Yes, anyone who has ever made an effort to be there for their neighbor has experienced it: God blesses our investment in our neighbors’ lives!

"Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you." (Luke 6:38 NIV)

So why would you continue to look for excuses for not being there for your neighbor, friend? Only someone who still lives out of lack would do that, even though God's abundance has been available to them for a long time!

God wants to give YOU from His abundance, so why continue to make decisions and live from your lack?

You are a miracle!
