Don’t overthink it

Do you know what I think, friend? Often, we think so much about something that we stop taking action.
“How should I talk to this person about Jesus without coming across as too religious?”Or: “What if they don’t believe me and laugh at me?”Or even: “What if I end up looking like a fool?”
I love learning from older people. I love soaking up their wisdom. And, as you probably know, one of the most common things you hear from someone on their deathbed is: “I wish I had done this or that and not been so afraid…”
Do you know what David said in his later years? “Once I was young, and now I am old. Yet I have never seen the godly abandoned…” (Psalm 37:25 NLT)
friend, if you love God and show that love by standing up and shining in your everyday life, as God desires in Isaiah 60: “Arise, shine…” (Isaiah 60:1 NLT), then God won’t leave you hanging, even if people don’t listen to you right away.
Ask the Holy Spirit for wisdom to see, and a bit of boldness to set you free!
Do you know how my parents and I, for example, got into a deep conversation with an atheist on the beach in southern France? By doing what the French do: we set up a little aperitif. A small appetizer, some wine—nice and casual.
And that was the language this atheist spoke. That was something that caught his attention as he walked by. He came straight up to us: “That looks cozy.” And I said, “Do you want some?” And bam—we had an open door because he felt comfortable enough to approach us!
Could it be that we Christians sometimes try so hard to act “religious” that we miss the chance to meet people where they are, in a way that resonates with them?
Today, we’re learning two things:Don’t miss an opportunity out of fear that it might go wrong. It’s not about appearing religious, but about “being human” that will open the doors of people’s hearts!
friend, shine today! Shine!
You are a miracle!
