Let’s stay in Elijah’s story a bit longer today, friend, because there’s so much we can learn from this passage. I’m wishing you a WONDER-full start to your day!

“Then the Lord said to Elijah, ‘Go to the east and hide by Kerith Brook, near where it enters the Jordan River. Drink from the book and eat what the ravens bring you, for I have commanded them to bring you food.’” (1 Kings 17:2–4 NLT)

We tend to read past how many emotions are packed into a passage like this. But let’s be honest—how many of us would want to suddenly leave the place we’re living in? To cross deep water, not knowing what’s ahead… only to go hide in some unknown place? 😯

I don’t know how Elijah managed it, but the very next verse says: “So Elijah did as the Lord told him and camped beside Kerith Brook, east of the Jordan. The ravens brought him bread and meat each morning and evening, and he drank from the brook.” (1 Kings 17:5–6 NLT)

It reads so smoothly, doesn’t it? Wild. Would you have gone along with it just like that, friend? Or would you have tried negotiating with God first?  “Okayyy… if I do this, can we agree you’ll at least send whole grain bread? And maybe some veggies to go with the meat—I’d like it medium-well, thanks?” Haha. 😂

Elijah didn’t doubt that God is good, so he knew God would give him good things in return for his obedience.

Even when the story suddenly says, “But after a while the brook dried up…” (1 Kings 17:7 NLT), there’s no complaint from Elijah. No, “Well, great, now you’re bailing on me after all.”

Because Elijah didn’t doubt that God is good, he knew God would continue to provide—and that’s exactly what happened! 🤩

But in order to experience how good God is, Elijah had to keep getting up and moving forward…friend, if you want to experience how good God truly is, you’ve got to rise up and move forward, too!

Elijah’s story inspires me! It challenges me to keep going, even when I don’t understand. Yes, it awakens something deep in me that wants to truly experience how good God wants to be to me, too!

That’s why I want to pray:  “Lord, please give us faith like Elijah had. Let us go further than our human understanding would ever allow. Because we want to experience just how good You really are! Amen!” 💛

You are a miracle!
