How do you talk about your dream, friend?

Publication date Jan 22, 2023

Have you ever heard a professional soccer or football player say before a game, "Oh man, it's not going to happen today...we have no chance of winning. We'll never make it!"?

Maybe that's what the opposing team's fans would wish for, but that's not likely to happen. Quite the opposite! Maybe in a pre-game interview, a player might say, "It'll be a tough fight, but we're going to give it our all because we want to win!"

How do you talk about YOUR dream, friend? Do you speak life into it through your words, or does what you say have the opposite effect? Here's my encouragement to you today: Choose to speak life into your dream!

The Bible says that a positive attitude and life-giving speech are important keys to living your dream: "'I create the fruit of the lips: Peace, peace to him who is far off and to him who is near,' says the LORD, 'And I will heal him.'" (Isaiah 57:19, NKJV)

The word "create" in this verse means "to form, fashion, bring about"!

  • Form: God wants to "form" the fruit of your lips! He wants to give life to what you speak! Isn't that amazing?
  • Fashion: He also wants to "fashion" it! When a bride and groom get married, it's their dream, but they're very happy to have someone design the day with them so they don't get completely stressed out. Not only does God want to "form" your dream, the words that come out of your mouth, friend—He also wants to fashion them and take away stress He never intended for you to have!
  • Bring about: Last but not least, God wants to "bring about" fruit. According to the dictionary, "bring about" means "to effectuate, to cause." God wants to and will cause what comes out of your mouth to become reality. Wow!

2 Corinthians tells us, "And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, 'I believed and therefore I spoke,' we also believe and therefore speak" (2 Corinthians 4:13, NKJV, bold added).

Keeping these amazing verses about speech in mind, I'd again like to ask you: how do YOU speak about the dream God has given you? Like a professional athlete before an upcoming game, are your words full of belief and motivation?

If they aren't, today is a wonderful day to change them! :-)

Yes, friend, as you change the way you talk about your dream, God will honor your life-giving words. He will bring you even closer to fulfilling your dream!

You are a miracle!
