It’s time to thank God for today!

Publication date Sep 13, 2024

Why do we humans always want more, want to possess more?

It doesn't even have to be a new car or a house that we want to buy. Even in daily life: Imagine you really crave a meal at an Italian restaurant, but currently your bank account doesn't look so good, so you postpone it. And that brings sadness to you. "Normal," I would say. Or is it "not" normal, friend.

Why has it become normal for us to feel sad when we don't get something immediately? Whereas it's not normal for us to be happy when most of the time we have everything we need to live?

Or are you hungry today and don't know when you'll eat next, friend? Or are you maybe dirty, but you have no idea where you could shower? I don't think so.

And does this circumstance automatically make you happy? Not really, if you're being honest with yourself. But the extra things we want but can't have immediately, that makes us instantly sad.

The more I think about it, the more I realize: I should tell my heart that I'm not lacking today, but living in abundance!

You've surely experienced such a moment too, friend. When my uncle passed away too soon, I remember thinking: "Oh man, I need to be much more grateful for each day. For every person in my life. For the sun smiling at me. Moments I get to experience with friends."

Do you notice that none of that has to do with money or possessions, friend? I don't want my joy to depend on what's financially feasible for me, but on what's already in my life today!

In the Bible, it says in simple and clear four words:

"Thank God for everything." (1 Thessalonians 5:18 NLT

Do you want to do exactly that today, friend?

You are a miracle!
