Keep the light on, friend!

Publication date Feb 21, 2023

In German, the word meaning "stick with it" is the same as "stay with it," only with different prefixes. I see this as a good reminder—it explains all at once what helps us to really stick with something, no matter what: staying power.

friend, when you turn off the lights at home in the evening, your brain knows: "Ahh, it's time to relax." You might also associate this daily habit with thoughts like "From now on, it's going to be cozy…I'm going to lie on the couch and watch TV." That's all just fine, but when it comes to faith, it would be very dangerous to treat it like a light switch that you simply turn on or off depending on your mood and the time of day.

The Bible tells us:

"Search for the LORD and for His strength; continually seek Him." (1 Chronicles 16:11, NLT)

"I keep my eyes always on the LORD…" (Psalm 16:8, NIV)

"On my bed I remember You; I think of You through the watches of the night." (Psalm 63:6, NIV)

If you want to STAY STRONG in life and be able to pursue your plans and dreams successfully, your connection to God must always STAY ON! So tonight when you turn off the lights, remember, "I'm turning off the lights, but my connection to Jesus stays ON." And do you know what's great about Him? Even if you've turned "off" your relationship with Jesus, all you have to do is choose to pursue Him again, and the connection is restored!

He loves you, friend...He's just waiting for you to flip that switch!

If this scenario describes you, I'd be happy to pray with you today…"Jesus, once again, my everyday life and concerns have gotten in between my relationship with You. Instead of living WITH You, I've neglected our relationship. Today I want to start anew! I want to stick to You and stay with You. Thank You for letting me return to You again and again. I love You. In Your name, amen."

You are a miracle!
