Let Jesus turn your wounds into miracles
Do you ever wonder why people can be so cruel?
I had just gone through the most devastating two weeks, where I was incredibly hurt. And now I was sitting in front of the television watching "The Passion of the Christ" again.
When it came to the scenes where Jesus was betrayed, the friends sitting next to me said, "You've been through something similar, Déborah." I emphasized that I had forgiven the person who had hurt me. But my friends continued, "Yes, Jesus did too—and yet He died."
It's true, we humans expect that when we forgive and thus follow God's will, He will immediately take us out of our difficult situation; the people we forgive will change, and everything will be fine again.
But in my case, it wasn't like that. I was still hurt despite forgiving. It was the same with Jesus. To Pilate, who challenged Him with the question, "Don't you realize I have the power to release you or crucify you?" (John 19:10 NLT), Jesus said: "You would have no power over me at all unless it were given to you from above." (John 19:11 NLT)
friend, what's hurting you right now is actually something God is allowing. I know, it's tough to swallow, but it's the truth. Nothing can touch you without His permission. And so, you can be reassured of this: you can know that He allows it for a good reason.
In Jesus' wound was a miracle, and you can trust that He will also reveal to you the miracle in your wound!
Others may be responsible for your situation, but God doesn't leave you alone with it! He will turn this situation into something good too! (see Romans 8:28 NLT)
So when God asks you to make a sacrifice through your "still loving—still trusting," don't be angry with those who brought you to this point, but trust the One who brings the dead back to life!
You are a miracle!
