Maybe you should get off here...
"Did you always know you wanted to be a singer?" It’s a question I’m asked often. 🎤
What I always knew was that I wanted to help people. When I was 11, I took care of an elderly man in the neighborhood every day, brought him food, cleaned his apartment, etc.
Then I wanted to train as a nurse for the elderly, but I was advised against it because of my constant tendinitis. So I was just happy to sing there again and again. That was my opportunity at that moment to help people.
I also toured Europe with a gospel choir for many years from the age of 12. It was expensive, so I worked all year long to be able to be there. Of course, I wanted to sing, but my motivation was: "Here I can tell people about Jesus." So, again, helping others.
Years later, when I suddenly shot through the media as "the singing flight attendant," had a manager, and was offered a record contract, it all sounded wonderful... but it didn't feel that way. The joy was lost despite the success, the recognition, the whole hype around my person.
And I said no. No to the manager. No to the next tour. No to success. No to the record deal.
To the outside world, it looked like I had put the brakes on my career. But deep down, I knew I had to get out so joy could get back in!
These days you just "do it." You “just do it” so you will be well received. You "just do it" because that's the way it is today. You "just do it" because you go along with it....
Don't join in just to do it. Do what God wants you to do because it makes you happy! ☺️
“Trust in the Lord and do good… Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this.” (Psalm 37:3-5, NIV)
What used to drive you? Are you still on the right path, or should you also get off so that joy can get back on?
You are a miracle!
