What does worry do for you?

Publication date Oct 11, 2025

Yesterday, we talked about the beauty of being able to throw down our anxiety at the feet of Jesus. God doesn't want us to carry that weight! That's why Solomon said in Proverbs 12:25, "Anxiety weighs down the heart, but a kind word cheers it up.” (Proverbs 12:25, NIV)

I have an incredible word for you today! The truth is, worry and anxiety often go hand in hand. But, Jesus spoke directly to worry and told his children exactly what we were supposed to do when worry invaded our lives and anxiety overtook our thoughts. Jesus said in Matthew 6:

“Therefore, I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?” (Matthew 6:25-27, NIV)

That's a great question, my friend. Worry adds absolutely nothing to the value of your life! It’s a complete waste of time and energy! Jesus goes on:

“And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all of his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” (Matthew 6:28-34, NIV)

I want to encourage you today to transform your worry into worship!

Here's something that I have been doing in my own life. At the very first sign of an anxious thought, I turn my worry into worship. I sing, I praise, I revel in God's creation. I speak out hope and gratitude. In doing that, I close the door to anxiety and I open my heart to God's peace. My friend, it works, because worship is more powerful than worry.

This is my prayer for you today: that you will know that God is in control of all things, that you need not be afraid or anxious, because the God who looks after all of the details of the birds of the air, is looking after you, and to Him, you are so much more valuable than you know.

Never forget, my friend. You are a miracle. Your friend,

You are a miracle!
