Arrggggh! There are no words...

Publication date Nov 5, 2025

We have a Prayer Room in the upper corner of the second floor at Christ the King Community Church, where I am privileged to have been the pastor for the last 26 years.

One day, I stumbled into the Prayer Room, looking for a quiet moment of peace, and instead, ran face-to-face into a young college student. I could tell by his body language and facial expression that he was frustrated. So, in my very best pastor voice, I said, "Why don't you share your frustration with me?"

Just in explaining what was going on in his heart, he got so frustrated with the condition of the world that all he could say was, "Argghhhhh!" His heart for justice had actually rendered him speechless.

Have you ever gotten to that point, frustrated to where you stop speaking? I often get there when I see evil people flourishing while God's people are struggling. I often get to a place where I just don't know what to say or what to pray. If you ever get to that place, always remember the words of Psalm 37:1-4:

“Do not fret because of those who are evil or be envious of those who do wrong; for like the grass, they will soon wither, like green plants, they will soon die away. Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” (Psalm 37:1-4, NIV)

What I love about this Psalm is that God gives words to all that He is going to do to balance the scales. He promises that, ultimately, He will right the wrong and that He will deal with the evil and the unjust in His good time.

In the meantime, my Bible says that I'm to trust in the Lord and do good, not evil. I'm to dwell in the land, not try to escape it, AND I am to enjoy the safe pasture that only my Good Shepherd can provide.

Instead of focusing on the injustice of the world, I'm to take delight in the Lord, knowing that He's going to give me the desire of my heart, which may very well be justice for those who need to be heard.

If you're frustrated to the point where you can't speak, God has given you a prayer to pray! Come to God with Psalm 37. You will experience the peace of God, that I can promise you!

And never forget, my friend, you are a miracle.
