Reconciled to God

Publication date Dec 16, 2025

The Christmas story isn't a nice, fictional tale—it's the beginning of God's master plan of reconciliation.

As humans, we have all sinned and fallen short of God’s perfect standard. That sin creates a separation, a barrier between us and God. Just like light and darkness can’t coexist, neither can sin and God's perfection. We are not perfect, and God is. But God, in His incredible love, made a way to bridge that gap and reconcile with us.

The plan started two thousand years ago in a Bethlehem stable. God sent His Son, Jesus, to be born into our world as a helpless infant. He didn't come to condemn us for our sin, but to bear our sin upon Himself. He came to reconcile us to God.

As it says in 2 Corinthians 5:21, “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” (2 Corinthians 5:21, NIV) Jesus is the one who took our brokenness, failings, and sins upon Himself. In exchange, he offers us His righteousness.

This is the great exchange that Christmas celebrates—the ultimate gift. You don’t need to earn it; you only need to receive it. Jesus came to open the door to a relationship with God. Our sins are forgiven and so that we can experience true freedom by living as He called us to. It started with a simple act of love in a humble stable, an act that changed the world forever and can change your life today.

Just this past week, I met a young man who was weeping at the altar of our church. His emotion came from the thought that Jesus came… for him! He came for you too!

Let me pray for us today:

Dear God, thank you for Your incredible plan of reconciliation. Thank you for sending Jesus to be sin for me so that I could be made right with You. Help me to grasp the magnitude of this gift and to live in the freedom that comes from being reconciled to You. Amen.

Never forget my friend…

You are a miracle!
