The light has come
The Christmas story that you’ve been reading about this week is still changing lives.
Isaiah 9:2 says, “The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned.” (Isaiah 9:2, NIV) These words, written by the prophet Isaiah 700 years before Jesus’s arrival, perfectly capture the essence of what happened at the very first Christmas. A light came on. And that light is calling to you today.
Think about the first Christmas Eve and the physical response of the angels, the shepherds, and the wise men. They showed up. They worshipped. They knelt. They bowed. With an angel choir singing, they experienced true joy! Through their hearts and their humility, they recognized a baby in a manger as Jesus, their Savior and King.
And, he came with a promise: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16, NIV)
I have a story too.
For years, I stumbled around in the darkness, too proud to admit I needed God's help. But when I came to the end of myself, Jesus was there to show me His love was real.
You can find your way home to Jesus, too. You can be reconciled to God who loved you so much that He left heaven behind and came to earth to rescue you and give you the hope, joy, and peace that every human heart desires. The light of Jesus can be victorious in your life, too.
As you prepare for Christmas this year, ask yourself: What story is God telling through my life? Could this be the year when God uses your story to bring other people home for Christmas?
Let me pray…
Lord Jesus, I recognize You as my King and my Savior. I give my life to you, right now. I confess that I have tried to live my life my own way. Today, I ask you to forgive me for pushing away your gift and believing I could live my life apart from you. I want to come home. Thank you for sending Jesus to save me. I accept His salvation right now. My life is yours. Amen.
If you have already received Jesus as Lord and Savior of your life, look for opportunities to share this prayer with your friends and family. Remember, Jesus came for them!!!
Never forget my friend,
You are a miracle!
