When Perfection was Shattered

Publication date Dec 21, 2025

Before the Christmas lights, the movies, and the holiday hustle, there was a different kind of perfection. The Bible says that God has always been creating.

In Genesis 1, we read that in the beginning, out of nothing, God created light and atmosphere. He split the water and designed the land, plants, and animals. God creatively made birds to fill the skies and amazing creatures for the water. And then, at the pinnacle of creation, God made humankind in His image. He created a perfect world—perfect design, perfect relationship, and perfect balance.

Then sin shattered it.

The very thing that brought our Christmas tree (see Friday’s email) and our Christmas plans to a standstill—a fundamental brokenness—is the same thing that wrecked God’s perfect creation. Sin wrecks everything. We often blame other people or things, but the truth is our world is fractured, separated from God.

And that could have been the end of the story. Mankind walked away from God, but God didn’t walk away from mankind. He didn't abandon us to our brokenness. He didn’t leave us to de-light our own broken trees.

“Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned.” (Romans 5:12, NIV)

This verse shows us that the problem is universal. Sin created a great, uncrossable separation between us and God. But this isn't a story about what we did wrong; Christmas is a story about what God would do right.

What can you confess to God today that could make a wrong part of your story right? You can trust Him to use it all for your good!!!

Let’s pray together…

Father God, thank you for the beautiful world you created. I confess that I have been a part of the brokenness through my sin. Thank you that You did not give up on me when I walked away. I am grateful for the gift of Jesus at Christmas time. Amen.

Never forget my friend…

You are a miracle!
