Are you tired of flapping your wings?
As my flight came to an end, my body sensed the descent from a high altitude to a lower one. It wasn’t lost on me that the airplane needed to rise to 36,000 feet in the air to fly me safely to my destination.
I don’t know about you, but I love that feeling when an airplane sits at the end of the runway, the engines’ thrust kicking in as we hurtle down the runway until finally we lift smoothly up into the air.
Planes rise because speed, engines, power, wings, and lift work together to take them off the ground and up into the air where they were designed to be. Today I want you to know that there is someone lifting you from the place you currently find yourself. The Holy Spirit is your lift—unseen but incredibly powerful—and His dream for you today is to soar.
“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” (Isaiah 40:31, NIV)
As we were flying, a young child in front of me kept looking back at me. I smiled and waved, laughing as they stood, lifted their arms, and began to flap them just like a bird would. In that child’s mind, their flapping helped get them where they were going a little quicker.
You were never meant to flap harder in order to get where God wants you to go. No—you were meant to soar higher through the Spirit’s power. I pray today that you will use His power and His lift to take you to heights you never dreamed you could attain.
A plane was not designed to spend all of its time on the ground. And, our spiritual life is not about clinging to the ground; it’s about trusting the One who can carry us above it.
Lord Jesus, thank You for being the pilot of our life. Teach us to trust You when we can’t see, to release what weighs us down, and to rise on the wings of Your Spirit. Help us to travel light, to live with faith, and to arrive safely in Your perfect will. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Never forget, my friend—you are a miracle.
