Stay Close to God 🤲🏻

Publication date Mar 4, 2026

If you’re anything like me, you experience spiritual “high seasons” in your faith… But then there are also days when reading the Bible and praying fall short.

During those times, we often comfort each other with verses like: “If we are unfaithful, He remains faithful.” (2 Timothy 2:13, NLT

And that is true. Completely. Without question. But may I share what I believe—and what I’ve experienced in my more than 40 years of life?

When we stay CLOSE to God, He moves us FORWARD in life.

Further than where we are now. Further than—yes, I’ll say it—further than those who live their faith halfheartedly, neither cold nor hot. (See Revelation 3:16)

You probably know the well-known verse from James: “Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.” (James 4:8, ESV

This means: whoever seeks God will experience His closeness. That is His direct promise.

And just before this verse, there is something less well-known—but it emphasizes this truth even more: “Or do you think Scripture says without reason that he jealously longs for the spirit he has caused to dwell in us? But He gives us even more grace.” (James 4:5-6)

It doesn’t matter how old you are, whether you feel like you’ve messed up your faith journey so far or have lived faithfully. Whether you think you have time for God right now—or not:

If you stay CLOSE to God starting today, He will take you FURTHER tomorrow than ever before.

This “further” will look different for each of us, but it will be good. Better than what we’re experiencing today. And it makes me wonder: Why do we think more about our next meal for our body than we do about anticipating our next moment with God?

Let’s pray:

“Lord, change me. Give me a deep longing to spend time with You. Help me desire You more than anything else on earth. I want MORE. Amen.”

You are a miracle!
