We Need Each Other
One of the quiet casualties of survival mode is connection. When life feels overwhelming, we tend to withdraw. We isolate. We tell ourselves we’ll reach out once things calm down, or once we’re less tired, less busy, less burdened. But calm rarely comes in survival mode.
God never designed us to endure alone.
“How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!” (Psalm 133:1, NIV)
At the feeding program that day during my time in Kenya, Evans didn’t eat in isolation. Children sat shoulder to shoulder, sharing food, stories, and laughter. If someone had less, another offered what they could. There was no hoarding, no competition—only shared humanity. Joy multiplied because it was shared!
Psalm 133 doesn’t describe unity as merely useful; it calls it good and pleasant. Community is not just a support system—it’s a gift.
Survival whispers, Don’t be a burden. God says, Let others help carry you. Survival convinces us that strength is independence. God reveals that strength is connection.
Evans understood this intuitively. His faith was lived out in relationship—through shared meals, shared Scripture, shared hope. He didn’t walk alone, and neither should we. That day, he offered me friendship, family, and hope!
Transformation often begins when we allow ourselves to be seen. When we stop pretending we’re fine and start walking honestly with others God has placed around us.
Who has God placed in your life for support—and how are you engaging with them? Have you considered how you can support other people? Human connection is a true human need, so share yourself with others today and see how your connection with God grows!
Let’s pray together...
Lord, draw me out of isolation and into deeper connection. Teach me to walk in unity and love with others. Make me a connector today that brings people close to my heart, and Yours!
You are a miracle!
