Are you the right person?

Publication date Apr 25, 2026

“Father, I can’t do this anymore. You chose the wrong person.”

Disappointed, I was sitting on the beach early in the morning during my vacation, tears running down my cheeks.

Another message had reached me—a disappointing one and, honestly, there had already been plenty before. And this one simply felt like one too many.

You might understand what I mean.

I’m not talking about an everyday disappointment. I’m talking about serious attacks on you as a person. Or maybe you’re standing there with a new business idea that you truly believed God had placed on your heart—and suddenly the storm begins. The business starts shaking, and bankruptcy suddenly seems closer than success.

If I told you that Moses experienced the same thing and Pharaoh’s army also seemed closer to him than God, you might interrupt me and say:

“Wait a minute, Déborah! God was closer to Moses than the army. He just couldn’t see Him.” 👀

Aha!

You’ve just given yourself the answer.

God is also closer to you—and to me—than the overwhelming problems we’re facing right now.

You may not be able to see Him, but just as He did for the people of Israel, He wants to make a way for you too. Even through unknown territory.

Faith doesn’t begin where God feels closer than the threat.Faith begins where we continue trusting Him even when the threat feels closer.

Moses’ people were quite exhausted—of course they were afraid. And you know how people react when they’re afraid.

If you’re in a position where you have to guide others—as a leader, a business owner, or even as a parent—you may be leading people who are restless and ungrateful, complaining: “I knew this would go wrong,”

In that case, it takes double the strength to keep speaking faith.

But God did not choose the wrong person in you. He is simply waiting for the right reaction.

In short, the right response right now is not reacting the wrong way. 😉

And what is the right response in the middle of tears?

Peace.

“Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today… The Lord Himself will fight for you; you need only to be still.” (Exodus 14:13-14, NIV)

Amen!

You are a miracle!
