When Frustration Builds

Publication date May 11, 2026

Hi, how did your day start? This morning, I couldn’t get my computer to boot up. I tripped walking out of my house and landed on my knees. I hit my head on the door jamb of my car. My phone dropped an important call, and it wasn’t even 9 a.m.!

Some days, frustration sneaks up on me slowly. Other days, it crashes into my life like a wave.

Sometimes it's the small stuff. The car won’t start. Plans change. The news feels overwhelming. The house is loud. And before long, I realize something deeper is happening inside me.

Frustration is building.

If I’m honest, frustration isn’t just about circumstances. It’s about control. When life stops cooperating with my plans, I begin to feel the tension. My patience shrinks. My perspective narrows. My peace disappears. My faith weakens.

Jesus never pretended life would be smooth. In fact, He told us the opposite. The world is full of trouble, pressure, and frustration. But Jesus also gave us something stronger than frustration—His peace.

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33, NIV)

The difference isn’t whether trouble exists. The difference is where we go when it shows up.

I can sit in frustration and let it grow…OR I can bring it to Jesus.

Over the years, I’ve learned something important: frustration can actually become a doorway to spiritual growth. When I reach the end of my patience, I’m often standing at the beginning of deeper dependence on God.

Frustration reminds me that I’m not in control—and honestly, I was never supposed to be.

Instead of seeing frustration as the enemy, I’m learning to see it as an invitation to pause, to pray, and to trust God again. Sometimes the very moments that stretch us the most are the moments when God does His greatest work in us.

So today, instead of resisting frustration, I’m choosing to bring it to the One who has already overcome the world.

Let’s pray together…

Lord, you know the frustrations that fill my life today—the small irritations and the deeper struggles. Instead of letting them steal my peace, help me bring them to you. Teach me to trust you when life feels overwhelming. Replace my frustration with your presence and your peace. Amen.

You are a miracle!
