The Breaking Point

Publication date May 12, 2026

Honest moment… I almost got run over today while crossing the street. A car just missed me, and I snapped inside. I said and thought things I am not proud of, and after I repented to Jesus, it really got me thinking.

Every person has a breaking point. What is your breaking point?

There comes a moment when patience runs out, options disappear, and frustration reaches its limit. Sometimes the breaking point shows up after small things like a remote that refuses to work or traffic that refuses to move. The little irritations of life begin stacking up until suddenly we feel stretched to the edge.

But life also brings bigger breaking points: the loss of a job. The death of someone we love. Broken relationships. Illness. Rejection. Uncertainty about the future.

Those moments can leave us wondering where God is and why life feels so heavy. But here’s something I’ve discovered over the years: breaking points can become turning points.

The Bible is filled with people who reached their limits. David faced the breaking point of his own sin. Peter faced the breaking point of his failure. Elijah faced the breaking point of exhaustion and fear.

And yet, God met them there.

God often does His deepest work when we reach the end of ourselves.

When we run out of strength, we finally discover how strong God really is.

“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” (2 Corinthians 12:9, NIV)

Breaking points remind me that I was never meant to carry life alone. They strip away the illusion that I can handle everything myself. When I reach the end of my strength, I’m finally ready to rely on God’s strength.

So if you feel stretched today—if frustration is pushing you toward your breaking point—remember this: God is not intimidated by your limits.

In fact, He often begins His greatest work right there. Let’s pray together:

Father, you see the places in my life where I feel stretched beyond my strength. When frustration pushes me toward my limits, remind me that your power is greater than my weakness. Help me trust you in the moments when I feel overwhelmed. Meet me at my breaking point and fill me with your strength. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

You are a miracle!
