One More Step
If you are ready to quit, throw in the towel, take a break… Permanently… DON’T. I have hope for you! This is one of my favorite truths in the story of Naaman.
The prophet told Naaman to submerge himself in the Jordan River seven times! Naaman could have quit after six dunks! BUT HE DIDN’T!!!!
Imagine how frustrating the moment of the sixth time coming back up for air must have been. He had already humbled himself, already stepped into the river, already dunked himself again and again—six times!
What if nothing changed?
It would have been easy to stop.
But Naaman kept going.
And when he came up the seventh time, EVERYTHING changed. The Bible says:
“Then his flesh was restored and became clean like that of a young boy.” (2 Kings 5:14, NIV)
Sometimes the breakthrough we’re waiting for is just one more step of obedience away.
Sometimes, God calls us to…
One more prayer. One more act of forgiveness. One more attempt at trusting God.
Faith isn’t always dramatic. Often it looks like perseverance. Often it is just remaining faithful moment by moment. Don’t miss this truth!
Naaman didn’t see the miracle until he completed the process.
The same principle applies to us today. God often works through persistence, obedience, and trust over time. When frustration tells us to quit, faith invites us to continue.
Maybe today you’re tired. Maybe you feel like you’ve already tried everything. Maybe you’re wondering if following God is worth the effort?
Naaman’s story reminds me that following God is ALWAYS worth the effort, because on the other side of obedience is transformation.
Naaman didn’t just receive new skin. He walked away with a new heart.
And God still changes lives, bodies, minds, and situations like that today! Let’s pray together:
God, when I feel like quitting, give me the strength to take one more step of faith. Help me trust that you are working even when I can’t see it. Teach me to persevere in obedience and believe that you are bringing transformation in your perfect time. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
You are a miracle!
