God Is With Us in Our Fear
I got bad news today. A situation that I thought was resolved showed up again… And my response was fear. Fear of what might happen grabbed my heart in a nanosecond.
Fear has a way of showing up at the most unexpected moments, doesn’t it? Fear of failure. Fear of sickness. Fear of unknown outcomes. Fear of exposure. All fear can contribute to a place of absolute despair.
Joseph was already dealing with confusion and pressure when an angel appeared to him in a dream. The angel began with words that appear throughout the Bible whenever God’s people face uncertainty.
“Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife.” (Matthew 1:20, NIV)
Did you see those words? “Do not be afraid.”
God says those words again and again in Scripture because He knows how easily fear takes hold of our hearts.
Fear tells us we are alone. Fear tells us we must figure everything out by ourselves. Fear tells us the future is uncertain. But God’s presence changes everything!
When we know that God is with us, fear loses its power.
The same God who stood with David against Goliath, protected Daniel in the lions’ den, and guided Esther in a dangerous moment is the same God who stands with us today.
Fear might still knock on the door of our hearts, but it doesn’t get to control our lives. Why? Because God’s presence gives us courage.
Sometimes courage doesn’t mean we feel brave. Sometimes it simply means we choose to move forward trusting that God is walking beside us.
And when we take that step of faith, we discover something incredible: we were never walking alone… EVER!
Let’s pray together:
God, You know the fears that live in my heart. Remind me today that I am not facing life alone. Give me courage to trust You and strength to move forward even when the path feels uncertain. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
You are a miracle!
