What are you breathing in?
“Do you have an inhaler?” the pharmacist asked when I told her about my cold.
I had to smile. It sounded just like my mom, who always tells me, “You need to inhale.” Of course, I have one. But honestly, I don’t use it very often… Laziness usually wins.
If I asked you, “Do you have a Bible?” or even better, “Do you have access to Jesus?” you would hopefully say “Yes!”
But are you actually using that access?
Jesus noticed this same difference long ago: “You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life … yet you refuse to come to Me to have life.” (John 5:39-40 NIV)
Are you spending time with Jesus to experience the peace He wants to give you? Especially in times like these? I hope we don’t answer that question with, “Laziness usually wins…”
Only when we choose the One who chose us first will we begin to see what He sees—and experience the peace only He can give.
A few years ago, I attended a conference in England with the theme, “Inhale truth—exhale life!”
What you take in and what you breathe in will eventually flow out of your life.
Do you want to breathe in God’s truth, His strength, and His incredible possibilities—and breathe them out to others? You can. And you should. Because God wants to bring hope into this world through you, now more than ever.
But for that to happen, you need to choose to use your access to Jesus. To pray. To read the Bible. Because just like my inhaler, it only helps if I actually use it.
And do you know what “inhaling” really means? It’s to breathe in the steam of hot water infused with healing substances, to bring restoration to your body.
So imagine what happens when you breathe in not just “hot water,” but the very power of God…
Inhale—and be amazed.
You are a miracle!
