Faithful to the End

Publication date Jun 14, 2026

A part of my role as a pastor is to officiate at memorials. While this can be emotionally taxing, it is made easier when the person we are remembering was a true servant who loved Jesus and finished well.

I have a list of names running through my mind—Bev, Brett, John, Gerritt, Tom, Nancy (to mention a few)—at whose funerals I got to say, “They fought the good fight, they finished the race, they kept the faith!” What a testimony!

As I reflect on what it means to follow Jesus, I’m reminded that the goal is not just to start well, but to finish well. Faithfulness is not a moment—it’s a lifelong posture.

The call of Jesus invites me into endurance, perseverance, and unwavering trust. Whether seen or unseen, recognized or unknown, the invitation remains the same: follow Him fully. Listen to this powerful admonition:

“Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you life as your victor’s crown.” (Revelation 2:10, NIV)

This verse challenges me to remain faithful no matter the circumstances. It reminds me that eternal reward far outweighs temporary recognition. It reminds me that for the follower of Jesus, the ultimate reward is hearing, “Well done, good and faithful servant!”

My prayer is that my life is not defined by how visible I am to others, but by how faithful I am to Jesus. The quiet, consistent walk of obedience is what ultimately matters.

I pray that you are committed to finishing well—to staying faithful, staying grounded, and staying devoted to Christ in every season. You can do it! Let’s pray together:

Lord Jesus, help me remain faithful to the end. Strengthen my commitment to follow You daily, regardless of circumstances. Keep my heart steady, my faith strong, and my eyes fixed on You. Thank You for the promise of eternal life and the crown that awaits those who endure. In Your name I pray, amen.

Never forget my friend,

You are a miracle!
