Aligning My Heart with God
I took my car to the shop recently, and the mechanic told me that my tires were out of alignment. He also asked, “Didn’t you feel that pull in your steering wheel?” Truth be told, I felt it, but I ignored it! Have you ever done something like that?
Obedience is not just external—it begins internally. Before my actions align with God, my heart must be aligned with Him. When my heart is surrendered, obedience becomes a natural expression rather than a forced effort.
I’ve noticed that when my heart is distracted or divided, obedience feels harder.
But when my heart is focused on God, my decisions begin to reflect that alignment more consistently. This is why guarding my heart is so important.
Alignment happens through time with God—through prayer, Scripture, worship, and reflection. These practices don’t just inform me; they transform me. They shape my desires, clarify my thinking, and recalibrate my priorities.
“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” (Proverbs 4:23, NIV)
This verse reminds me that the condition of my heart influences the direction of my life. If I want to live in obedience, I must first cultivate a heart that is attentive and responsive to God.
Today, I want to be intentional about what I allow into my heart and mind. The voices I listen to, the influences I engage with, and the habits I form all play a role in shaping my alignment with God. And I don’t want to ignore anything that would affect my alignment with Jesus!!! Let’s pray together:
Lord, align my heart with Yours. Help me to guard it carefully and keep it focused on what is true and life-giving. Shape my desires so that they reflect Your will, and guide my thoughts so that they remain centered on You. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
Never forget, my friend,
You are a miracle!
