You don’t have to hold on to this

Publication date Jun 28, 2026

“What God gives you, you don’t have to hold on to.”

That sentence suddenly showed up during my quiet time—right in the middle of a big decision whether or not I should hold on to what I’ve built over the years.

And this is something you probably know too: we build our lives step by step. Day by day. Decision by decision. Like a house where we place one stone after another.

And then at some point, we stand in front of it and think:👉 This is my life.

And that’s exactly where it gets hard. When we start holding on to something that was only meant for a season.

Some things in your life are not a destination—they are a transition.

A stepping stone.

But we treat them like solid ground and stay where we were meant to jump.

Imagine you take a run-up, the diving board is right in front of you—everything is ready. But instead of jumping, you stay on it because doubt is shouting: “This is way too high! I’m scared!”

Then you miss exactly what it was meant for: to move you forward.

“What God gives you, you don’t have to hold on to.” Why? Because it doesn’t depend on you—but on Him.

Abraham took the painful leap God asked of him (see Genesis 22:1–24).  He was willing to let go of what God had given him: his son.

And in that moment, God steps in. The son remains. The promise remains. But now it’s clear: it wasn’t depending on Abraham—but on God.

And that’s the point. We often think: “If I don’t hold on to it, I’ll lose it.”

God says: “If I have given it to you, no one can take it away from you. So be willing to let go when I speak, and keep moving forward. My beloved child: No one can snatch you out of My hand.” (see John 10:28)

Because God is holding you, you don’t have to hold on to everything yourself. You can move forward—and He will go with you.

You are a miracle!
