My Purpose Is Found in Surrender
I remember a time when I was struggling with both purpose and identity. I had no clue why God had put me where I was or why He had called me to be a pastor. I felt lost and alone, but in His mercy, God showed up and spoke to my heart. What He said to me, I pray, will encourage you today!
I’ve asked questions like: Why am I here? What am I called to do? Why does life sometimes feel unclear?
In those moments, I’m learning that purpose is not something I manufacture—it’s something I discover through surrender. When I yield my life to God, He begins to reveal direction step by step.
Jesus modeled this perfectly. He lived in complete submission to the Father, trusting Him even when the path led through suffering. His purpose was not self-defined—it was God-ordained. Jesus said: “For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it.” (Matthew 16:25, NIV)
That verse reminds me that purpose is found when I let go.
When I stop trying to control everything and instead trust God with everything, I begin to experience clarity. When I allow Him to show me a path as I simply keep moving forward, in surrender.
Surrender doesn’t mean losing—it means aligning. It means releasing my plans so I can step into God’s greater plan.
To me, serving is one of the clearest expressions of surrender. When I serve others, I’m saying, “God, my life is not my own—it’s Yours.”
My challenge to you today is to find a place where you can actively serve. Maybe it’s bringing a meal to a sick friend, helping a neighbor with a project, or teaching kids about Jesus at your church. Whatever it is, do it!
When I choose to surrender my plans, my timeline, and my expectations to God, He can do amazing things through those simple acts of service. Let’s pray together:
Lord, I surrender my life to You. Help me release control and trust Your direction. When I feel uncertain, remind me that You are leading me with purpose. Align my steps with Your will and help me to walk in obedience one day at a time. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
Never forget, my friend,
You are a miracle!
