Are We Possibly Getting Too Comfortable
Right before my long-awaited vacation, I wanted to set up the email autoresponder. And honestly, I had never done that myself before. đ€ My producer Daniel, who helps me with all technical things, has always done it for me.
In that moment, he was sitting next to me and I laughed: âActually, I can do this myself. Iâve just never tried before because I knew you would do it for me. Iâll just try it nowâyou're here, and I know if I canât figure it out, youâll step in.â
And it was such a funny moment, because we both knew that this was becoming a new âA Miracle Every Dayâ text. đ
Because while I was basically admitting that I had always handed this task over to himâmore or less out of convenienceâI realized I sometimes do the same thing with God. That I pray: âFather, could You please do this and that for me,â without first trying to do what I actually could do myself.
Becauseâcan we be honest for a moment? How often do we pray about things that we could actually take action on ourselves first?
For example this prayer: âLord, please be with my friend, she is going through such a hard time.â Iâweâcould also be there for that person ourselves. And yes, God is still there and will bless that act of love and step in with what we cannot do on our own. But what is within our ability, we shouldnât ignore âout of convenience.â
Maybe today is exactly the day to move less in prayer onlyâand more in courageous action.
Because how often do we speak good words when loving actions are actually needed? The Bible puts it clearly:
âIf one of you says to them, âGo in peace; keep warm and well fed,â but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it?â (James 2:16 NIV)
And thatâs why this applies: âFaith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.â (James 2:17 NIV)
You are a miracle!
