God Meets You in the Mess
I can’t speak for you, but Jesus met me in the darkest moment of my life. In the depths of the darkness of my own sin, the Son of God burst onto the scene and saved my soul and my life.
One of the most surprising things about God is when He chooses to show up.
If I were writing the story of the con man Jacob, I’d have waited until Jacob cleaned himself and his act up. I would have waited until he made things right, until he proved he was worthy, until he had learned a few lessons.
But God doesn’t wait.
He steps right into the mess.
In the middle of his story, Jacob is alone. Relationships are broken. His reputation is damaged. And it’s in that exact moment—not after—that God makes a promise.
“I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go.” (Genesis 28:15, NIV)
That promise of God changes everything for me.
Because it means God doesn’t wait for the best version of me—He meets me in the real version of me.
Right now. In the middle of confusion. In the middle of regret. In the middle of things I haven’t figured out yet. In the middle of my questions. In the middle of my sin, the Savior came to rescue me.
Some of us are waiting to come to God until we feel more put together. But that moment may never come… And it doesn’t have to.
God says, “Come to ME.” Not when you’re ready, but when you’re honest.
That’s where transformation begins.
If you’re in a messy place today, you’re not disqualified—you’re positioned. Just like Jacob, even though he believed he could never overcome his past, God was right there.
For you, God is closer than you think. Let’s pray together:
“God, thank You for meeting me in the middle of my mess. I don’t have it all together, and I don’t know all the answers, but I know You are with me. Help me to stop running and start trusting that You can meet me right here. Amen.”
Never forget, my friend,
You are a miracle!
